Click on the link above to see the social studies curriculum guidelines for your third grader this year. Specifics for Grade 3 learning: Connecticut and Local History, are found on pages 40-55 in the document. So far this year, we have reviewed what it means to be a community, what are the five needs of a community, and we are now delving into Connecticut geography. Some fun facts that students learned: It would take 48 Connecticuts to fill up Texas, Connecticut is a small state with big geographical features, and it is the 3rd smallest state in the United States.
I am so excited to be working with third graders in social studies and science this year! You've found the place where I'll be posting updates for Social Studies and Science as we go forward this year. I hope you can visit during the Curriculum Night scheduled on 9/13/17 at 6:45pm. Please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions about the third grade curriculum. I can be reached at cformica@rsd17.org.
The third grade visited the Haddam Veterans Museum and had a chance to thank some of our local veterans for their service.
